During the summer we fotographed the beautiful wedding of Emily + Joe at the gorgeous Mansion at Bald Hill. Emily + Joe are such an adorable couple, and their love for each other is so real and true. Their day was a dream to fotograph, because they are so into each other and natural in front of our cameras. The tone of the day was very relaxed- the perfect wedding day.

Emily + Joe were married in the gorgeous garden at the Mansion, with Emily's super sweet daughter Summer as both the flower girl and the ring bearer. It felt very intimate, with family & friends gathered on the patio of the sunken garden.

After some family fotos, we went off with the newly-weds so they could enjoy some alone time. We are strong advocates for time after the ceremony to just be together, away from everyone. This is the usually height of emotion for the day, and its a great thing to step away and reflect together. Emily + Joe had a horse & carriage ride to the outskirts of the property of the Mansion, which the family happens to own, so it has a lot of sentimental value to them.

The reception was under a big white tent attached to the Mansion, and was a good time for all. Two of the owners of the restaurant at the Mansion at Bald Hill, Joel & Scott are also the chefs- gasp!- and they prepared a very delicious meal for Emily + Joe and their guests. We highly, HIGHLY recommend planning an evening excursion to the Mansion for a meal that is sure to delight your taste-buds!

Joe planned a special time for he and Emily to slip away to a romantic candle-lit retreat under their special tree. You might recall from Emily + Joe's Love Shoot, that Joe had a their names carved into a giant beech tree behind the Mansion, and is where he proposed to Emily. Joe is such a sweetheart that he completely surprised his bride under that tree with a Love Book that we made for him to give as a gift to Emily. You can view the design by clicking here.

The party didn't stop after the reception ended. We were invited to the after-party; a bonfire behind the Mansion- the perfect ending to a perfect day. Sitting around the glow of the fire, we were serenaded by the acoustic guitar of a very talented friend of Emily + Joe, whom, if you, as Joe put it, "Close your eyes and it's James Taylor!" There musically-uber-talented friend also played a guitar solo during the reception, which was such a beautiful personal touch. To make the after-party even more magical, a light rain (which is good luck on your wedding day!) started as we sat around the fire, and everyone took out their umbrellas, which glowed orange from the campfire. It looked so surreal and magical! I just love those unique moments that define a weddding day in my mind (and hopefully everyone else's too).

Joe on what he loves most about Emily :

"Emily is just one of those people you can't help but like...or love.
Family and friends are everything to us. Emily makes sure they
really know it and feel it. I love the way Emily gives everyone a smile.
She is super-kind-hearted and wants to make sure everyone else is taken
care of first. She is very generous and giving and always puts others first.
I love the way Emily loves me in every way possible; romantic love,
caring love, supportive love, etc. There seems to be love in
almost everything she does for me."

Emily on what he loves most about Joe :

"Joe is everything I have been waiting and looking for in a man.
I am so lucky to have found everything in the one person. He is so incredibly
understanding, supportive and forgiving. I love that Joe has
a sensitive, kind heart with superior family values and has a tremendous
love for children and my daughter. He is very attentive to me and has such
a willingness and desire to help others which I love."

On June 6th, our good friends Christine + Zack were married on the beach in Rhode Island. Paul + I were officially guests at this wedding, but Christine asked if I would mind bringing my camera along too. Being a fotographer at heart, I of course wouldn't leave my camera behind; I'd feel naked without my camera in hand on such an important day in my friend's lives. The "official" photographer for the day was our friend Lauren Cooksey and her daughter Tracy, a really sweet mother/daughter team that Christine + I have known for years now.

The day was absolutely picture perfect- breezy, perfect tempature and the ocean as blue as could be! I think I was almost as exited as Christine + Zack to watch them be married as they were to be married! I'd been spending time with Christine , trying to give her feedback as she planned the wedding, and it was so great to see her dream come to fruition on the big day.

I'm so happy for Christine + Zack.... they've known each other since they were little kids, but it wasn't until much later that they found that they were destined to be with one another. They didn't really hang out when they were kids, but it turns out that Christine has a old fotograph one of her birthday parties, and Zack happened to be tagging along with some other friends of Christine's that day! Now here they are 20+ years later, vowing to spend the rest of their lives together. If that's not destiny, I don't know what is! Here is the story of the foto directly from Christine:

"When Zack's mom was working, or going to school, to become a nurse (can't remember which?) she had her friend Kate watch Zack. Well, it just so happened that Kate was a good family friend of ours, and we grew up playing with her two boys.

So, long story short... one day when Zack and I first got together, I was showing him pictures from one of my mothers many family albums..I came across this picture of one of my birthday parties at our old blue house...and I kept looking at it because there was something about how the little cutie sitting behind me was resting his arm..very similar to how someone I know sits (that's when you know you have lived with someone a long time!)...low and behold...it was Zack!!! At my birthday party!! I never knew we hung out...but apparently, Kate was watching Zack that day and so he tagged along with Kate's two boys...we confirmed that it was by showing our parents the picture.

And there we were, sitting right next to each other...cupcakes blazing...hence why we had cupcakes at our wedding ...teehee...crazy how things work out :)"

Christine having her "face" done.....Erin from Naomi's Studio and Salon did such a wonderful job. Christine is naturally beautiful
without makeup, so Erin only enhanced her natural beauty with stunning, radiant "fresh-look" makeup artistry!
I would recommend all brides in the New England area check out Naomi's Studio & Salon for their wedding day beauty needs.

20090606_145551-k10

The dress and all it's prettiness. It was the perfect gown for a beach wedding...perfectly flowy, simple elegance. Just wait until you see how it looks on her!

2V_sidebyside1

20090606_151500-p1

Christine put a lot of work into all the little details of her wedding. She is very creative and artsy too, and
really put a lot of thought and energy into making the details have that beachy feel.

4V_grid

Christine prepared for the big day in a little cottage suite near the beach at the Breezeway Resort. The colors of the walls and decor of the cottage were perfectly beachy keen (not peachy keen), and really set the scene for the ladies getting ready. How pretty is my little Christine?

20090606_153607-p1

The flowers were so fresh and pretty..... Rosanna's Flower's did such a lovely job, and Christine couldn't have been more thrilled with the way her vision turned out. Check out the way the stem of her bouquet is wrapped.....Christine's idea.

20090606_151750-p1

2V_sidebyside2

Christine looks pretty doing everything.....even talking on the tele.

20090606_154811-p1

Zack's momma Sandy, looking all relaxed while watching her future daugther-in-law get ready.

20090606_150220-k10

Christine's niece Lexy putting on the bridesmaid necklace that was handmade by one of Christine's good friend Christine.

20090606_155227-p1

Cathy, Christine's momma, putting on her finishing touches before helping her daughter dress.

20090606_160344-p1

I love this sequence....something about getting on the gown is so emotion, especially when you are very close to your mom. I'm very much looking forward to this part of my day with my mom and sisters. I love that Christine's sister Missy leaned in to give her a kiss and her mom gave her one of the most emotional hugs I've ever seen. These are the moments that make us love what we do so much!

3V_sidebyside

Most of the bridesmaids were from my hometown of East Hampton.....how pretty do they all look while watching their friend get into her gown?

3H_2top_1bottom

I love this natural moment as well.

20090606_160824-p1

Isn't Christine one of the prettiest brides ever? Zack gave her his wedding gift early because he was so excited to give it to her. Isn't that just the cutest?
His gift was a beautiful, elegant pearl necklace and Christine decided to wear it like a bracelet on the wedding day.

2V_sidebyside3

Look at those lashes....

20090606_161058-p1

20090606_161350-p1

It was a little tough to put on the bracelet because everyone had had their nails done, but it finally was clasped securely.

20090606_161305-p1

Paul + I made our way over to the beautiful ceremony site on Weekapaug Beach to grab some shots of Zack and his guys. Check out the sign that Christine made to show guests the way.....again attention to the details. I love the beach roses in full bloom lining the path to the beach.

20090606_165210-p1

The handsome groom and his men.

20090606_163807-k10

Apparently these guys have stock in Captain Morgan! Haha! This was totally un-coached.

20090606_164143-p1-01

They're suits were so beachy.....so J. Crew.....I love the colors Christine choose. The ocean water was unreal that day too
.....so Carribean blue.....and matched perfectly with the guys ties.

20090606_164103-p1

Totally stud-ly!

20090606_163949-p1-2

We of course had to go up on the dunes for some shots in the sea grass.

20090606_164725-p1

Beachy details of the ceremony site.

2V_sidebyside6

The ladies coming down the aisle to witness the marriage. Everyone was barefoot....the way a beach wedding should be.

20090606_170143-p1

This is my hands down favorite shot of the day.....it gives me goose bumps (in a good way) every time I look at it : )

20090606_170235-p1

Zachary watching is breathtaking bride make her way down the aisle to him. He was trying his hardest not to tear up.

2V_sidebyside4

The archway that Zack and Christine made for their ceremony was so perfect.....flowy and breezy.

20090606_170405-p1-2

This one melts my heart....the way Zack is gazing at the woman he loves.

20090606_170941-p1-2

20090606_171019-p1

Okay, another favorite of the day.....Zack's parents watching as their son is married. I knew I was going to love this fotograph the second I captured it.

20090606_170556-p1

The day was so dramatic.....the soft breeze, the sky, the ocean with it's huge waves!

20090606_170808-p1

The groomsmen watching their buddy take his vows.

20090606_170612-p1

...and the ladies standing by their friend's side as she marries the man she loves.

20090606_170848-p1

How content and calm. Here Christine's friend Jen is reading to them a beautiful poem called the "Blessing of the Hands." It was so beautiful it gave me chills!

Blessing of the Hands

these are the hands of your best friend, young and strong and full of love for you, that are holding yours on your wedding day,
as you promise to love each other today, tomorrow, and forever.

these are the hands that will passionately love you and cherish you through the years, and with the slightest touch, will comfort you like no other.

these are the hands that will work beside you to help build the foundation of your life together.

these are the hands that will countless times wipe the tears from your eyes; tears of sorrow, and as in today, tears of joy.

these are the hands that will help you to hold your children and unite your family as one.

these are the hands that will give you strength when you truly need it.

these are the hands that will guide you as you travel together to unfamiliar destinations.

these are the hands that will hold you as you walk together on sandy beaches…near and far…they will
balance while you walk across the rock jetty to catch a glimpse of the sun setting over the ocean.

and last, these are the hands that even when you are wrinkled and aged, will still be reaching for yours,
still giving you the same unspoken tenderness with just a touch.

20090606_170825-p1

A fish-eyes view of the ceremony. Doesn't it look like they are getting married in the Caribean rather than on a New England beach?

20090606_171345-p1

A super sweet moment....

20090606_170902-p1

The pathway leading down to the beach, where all the ladies left their sandals.

20090606_171340-k1-2

Eddie, owner of Photo Images, a professional photo lab in East Hartford, watches. Christine and I met at Eddie's lab, where we both worked for many years.
We are like the daughters Eddie never had, which is why he looks like a proud parent here.

20090606_170928-p1

The beautiful Christine smiling at her man right before placing the ring upon his finger. I had to remove the microphone and stand from this shot because it was so distracting....I don't think you'd ever be able to tell it was there : ) Photoshop wizardy comes in handy every once in a while....

20090606_171458-p1

Aww.....the ring exchange....such a wonderful, happy moment

2V_sidebyside5

Cathy and her man Bob watching gleefully!

20090606_171631-p1

....and the very romantic kiss!

20090606_171644-p1-02

Paul's perspective of the very romantic kiss....also very romantic.

20090606_171520-k1-01

Paul had a great angle of the newlyweds as they walked off together......Mr. & Mrs. Pearson!!!

"Come....let's run away together!"

20090606_171744-p1

Christine's sister Missy and Zack's best man Jon. Zack, Jon and I all graduated from East Hampton High in 1995. Christine was a freshman when we were seniors!

Zack was Jon's best man about 5 years back.
That was about the same time Christine and Zack finally started dating!

20090606_171803-p1-01

A very smily Brandy, Christine's cousin that is more like another sister to her, regardless of living far away in Arizona. She came out not only
to be part of the wedding, but also to attend the very fun bacholarette party a few weeks before the wedding!

20090606_171851-p1

A big romantic hug to seal the deal.

20090606_171813-p1-01

Another great photographer Maggie Conley, whom Christine works for a couple days a week attended the wedding too, along with her husband
Norm, whom was the officiant of the ceremony. They are such a sweet couple, and Norm did a wonderful job with the ceremony!

20090606_172143-p1

The couple's sandals....

20090606_180557-k2

More beachy details of the ceremony. Christine left no stone unturned (or should I say- shell?) when it came to creating the perfect details.

Christine with her good friend Lorel. Several years ago we fotographed Lorel and her husband Ken's wedding, and Christine was

Christine's other best friend Christine (yes that's right-they have the same name) with her husband Jon (Zack's best man). Christine is such a little ball of energy, and her smiles are so contagious. She's the kind of person you like instant you meet her. Aren't they so cute?

20090606_185108-k2

More details for your viewing pleasure....the table settings were simple, elegant, and perfect! And check out the
beaded detail on the bridesmaid flowers.....Christine did that!

The steel drums were the perfect thing to set the tone of the reception. They instantly transport you far away to some tropical island.
Jose also played before the ceremony and as everyone came down the aisle.

Mrs S's vision for the processional of the ceremony was to have everyone throw paper airplanes into the sky to that new popular song "paper airplanes." So all the bridesmaids folded the planes out of origami paper.....good teamwork girls!

After they relaxed for a little while, we took off onto the gorgeous property of the Alpine Country Club for some portraits of the couple. Don't they look like movie stars in this one?

Another favorite of the day.

I LOVE this one too.....oh too many favorites!

www.studiofoto.com, photography © Studio Foto, wedding, alpine country club, jewish wedding, spring wedding

Paul grabbed these shots with a "lensbaby," which gives an "artsy" blurred edge around the fotos. It's pretty random what you get with it because the focus is really tough...but worth the happy surprises! Especially when your couple is spontaneous and jumps around!

www.studiofoto.com, photography © Studio Foto, wedding, alpine country club, jewish wedding, spring wedding

We had taken the golf carts out to get around the property...we just had to shoot them in it.....again, the shoes!

Another view of the bridesmaids in their ridiculously awesome dresses. Coming down the aisle. Or should I say.....runway.

I love when couples laugh during ceremonies....it's so in the moment to laugh because of your happiness. Reminds me of the motto for life: Live, laugh, love.

It was getting dark fast...but I love the feeling of this one.

And Paul got this shot of the ceremony and all the guests...very dramatic.

Jaime + Scott: Wedding

Well, the wedding season has come to a close for Paul & I, and we are now have the time to catch up on some posts about this year's weddings. First up is our wonderful couple Jaime + Scott. Jaime is a branch manager of our bank, Webster Bank, and we met her years ago. She has always been a fan of ours (and we are fans of her as well!), and told us years ago when she gets married she wanted to have us fotograph her wedding. Well she did have us, and we were so honored to be part of her and Scott's day! Their wedding was a lot of fun, and we are so happy for them!

Click HERE to enjoy Jaime + Scott's Slideshow Premier!!!!

The day started at a pretty little salon and spa in Enfield, Connecticut called "Scruples." Jaime's awesome makeup was done by Melissa, who is also getting married next October (and we might be fotographing her wedding too!)

I LOVE this shot...not posed mind you.

00037-20080801_10-35-27

Jaime finished getting ready at Scott's parents home in Enfield. Their home is near some beautiful tobacco fields, which Enfield is well known for. The backyard of their property is lovely, and right next to one of the tobacco fields....and we had the most stunningly beautiful, perfect sunny day. Paul & I just had to bring Jaime's dress outside to fotograph!

Turkey meets Germany

We just shot a AWESOME wedding in NJ. For some of you this is the second time you are meeting Peter and Michelle, remember the NYC shoot;) Their wedding was at the amazing Alpine CC in Demarest NJ a few Saturdays ago. First I have to comment on shooting a Turkish rehearsal dinner...Its AWESOME and the food YUM!! So much family it only took a few minutes before we were part of the family, we even got branded:) with henna so we weren't going anywhere;)

So Peter is from Germany and one of his only jobs for the wedding was the desserts, if he really did it by himself then he gets a gold star! They even found a baker that made them a 3 tier cheese cake, yummy.

The wedding was a bunch of fun and we shot WAY to much, but after going through them a bit we found these we would like to share.

A Glimpse at Tammy + Gilles

This past weekend we had the privilege of fotographing the gorgeous wedding of Tammy and Gilles. It had the feel of a backyard soirée, only a little more decked out, elegant, and classy. Which was, of course, to be expected, seeing as that the wedding and reception were held at the house of Tammy's friends, which was previously owned by Martha Stewart herself.

So here's a tiny little taste of Tammy and Gilles on their special day. Enjoy!

To Tammy and Gilles, thank you so much for letting us share your special day with you. We had an amazing time fotographing you guys and we can't wait to show you more!

Style me Pretty

So a few weeks ago Krystal and I received a phone call from Michelle of Stylemepretty.com. I immediately thought it was just another sales call to advertise on some website, however I decided to listen because in a few seconds the rep Michelle sounded different than the others. First she said Abby, the women that runs the show, hand selected us to be in their "Little Black Book" of wedding vendors...WOW she had my attention:) So to make a long story short the Connecticut section was just launched.

Stylemepretty.com is listed as one of Martha Stewart's favorite blogs and it has awesome ideas about weddings and chic style. We are fortunate enough to be one of the 6 photographers chosen to be represented from Connecticut.

Thank you to our customers for the support and to our family and friends that got us here!

Michael and Meaghan in NYC

Earlier this month we fotographed an amazing wedding at the Waldorf=Astoria in NYC. Michael and Meaghan had a beautiful wedding on a early spring day. Their friends and family traveled from Honduras, Ireland and other countries far and wide to come together to give their blessing to this amazing couple. Michael and Meaghan surrounded themselves with their closest family and friends, and everyone was full of life and spirit. We felt very fortunate to be part of this beautiful couple's wedding day, helping them start their married life together with this grand event. Here are a few of our favorites from the day. Please stay tuned for a slide show of the weekend's events.

Hillary + Jeremy's Wedding Day

The last wedding we fotographed of 2007 was the wedding of Hillary and Jeremy. We met Hillary a couple years ago when we fotographed her senior portraits. Hillary is such a sweetheart and she is so fun to fotograph! Jeremy is in the military, and we met him for the first time right before the wedding. You can tell he really adores Hillary. The ceremony was so emotional... Hillary's big brother gave her away, and the couple was choking up tears during their vows to each other. It was incrediblely cold outside when we went out later to fotograph the groups, but the whole bridal party were such good sports! We were a little worried that the ladies were going to get frostbite on their toes, so we went as fast as possible, and the shots came out so fun! Congrats Hillary & Jeremy!

Jet and Dan

We were fortunate enough to fotograph the amazing couple Jeannette and Dan at Saint Clements Castle last Saturday. The day was sort of mystical, the clouds slid by quickly, and wind gusted through the trees loosening the leaves making an autumn confetti rain down on the wedding party.
