During the summer we fotographed the beautiful wedding of Emily + Joe at the gorgeous Mansion at Bald Hill. Emily + Joe are such an adorable couple, and their love for each other is so real and true. Their day was a dream to fotograph, because they are so into each other and natural in front of our cameras. The tone of the day was very relaxed- the perfect wedding day.
Emily + Joe were married in the gorgeous garden at the Mansion, with Emily's super sweet daughter Summer as both the flower girl and the ring bearer. It felt very intimate, with family & friends gathered on the patio of the sunken garden.
After some family fotos, we went off with the newly-weds so they could enjoy some alone time. We are strong advocates for time after the ceremony to just be together, away from everyone. This is the usually height of emotion for the day, and its a great thing to step away and reflect together. Emily + Joe had a horse & carriage ride to the outskirts of the property of the Mansion, which the family happens to own, so it has a lot of sentimental value to them.
The reception was under a big white tent attached to the Mansion, and was a good time for all. Two of the owners of the restaurant at the Mansion at Bald Hill, Joel & Scott are also the chefs- gasp!- and they prepared a very delicious meal for Emily + Joe and their guests. We highly, HIGHLY recommend planning an evening excursion to the Mansion for a meal that is sure to delight your taste-buds!
Joe planned a special time for he and Emily to slip away to a romantic candle-lit retreat under their special tree. You might recall from Emily + Joe's Love Shoot, that Joe had a their names carved into a giant beech tree behind the Mansion, and is where he proposed to Emily. Joe is such a sweetheart that he completely surprised his bride under that tree with a Love Book that we made for him to give as a gift to Emily. You can view the design by clicking here.
The party didn't stop after the reception ended. We were invited to the after-party; a bonfire behind the Mansion- the perfect ending to a perfect day. Sitting around the glow of the fire, we were serenaded by the acoustic guitar of a very talented friend of Emily + Joe, whom, if you, as Joe put it, "Close your eyes and it's James Taylor!" There musically-uber-talented friend also played a guitar solo during the reception, which was such a beautiful personal touch. To make the after-party even more magical, a light rain (which is good luck on your wedding day!) started as we sat around the fire, and everyone took out their umbrellas, which glowed orange from the campfire. It looked so surreal and magical! I just love those unique moments that define a weddding day in my mind (and hopefully everyone else's too).
Joe on what he loves most about Emily :
"Emily is just one of those people you can't help but like...or love.
Family and friends are everything to us. Emily makes sure they
really know it and feel it. I love the way Emily gives everyone a smile.
She is super-kind-hearted and wants to make sure everyone else is taken
care of first. She is very generous and giving and always puts others first.
I love the way Emily loves me in every way possible; romantic love,
caring love, supportive love, etc. There seems to be love in
almost everything she does for me."
