For Latoya
First a disclamier that this is a sad and unfortunate story.
Krystal and I were headed for her sisters 18th birthday party when we spotted a woman next to her car on the side of the road. I have the urge to stop whenever i see a person in distress or need, however this time something told me to stop and see if there was something we could do. The woman was having a asthma attack so I called 911 and then we held her until the ambulance arrived witch seemed like an eternity but in actuality was only a few minutes. I asked the police officer to keep me informed about her and he agreed. At 9pm the police officer called me to let me know she passed away. First, I want to let the family know that we held her and loved her for the short time we knew her and I hope your family can heal with time. Second we have been awoken to how much we take life for granted, its short go hug someone and tell them you love them.

you two are such big hearted people- I couldn't think of anyone better for her to spend her last moments with (aside from her family) than you two...
prepare yourselves for a big long momma hug when I see you tonight
I love you both very much!!
Life is so fragile... Such a great post and a great thing to do for someone. My thoughts go out to Latoya and her family... :-(
carla told me about this! i can't believe it. God bless you for being a good samaratin. You did a beautiful thing and I hope her family finds peace in knowing that you did your best to keep her calm in her final hours.
I just want to say thank you. First and foremost, my name is Dan, and I worked with Latoya on multiple occasions. I was telling my brother about what had happened. My brother Rob (rjtpictures.com) asked me what her name was and found this for me. I appreciate what you did to help and I will definitely be passing this along to all her friends. I am grateful that there are still people that are gentle hearted in this world.
Thank you.
wow!
Thank you for being such caring people. My name is Jessalyn and I have known Latoya for close to four years now. She was a kind, loving, compassionate woman who was loved by many. I was devastated to learn about her passing and feel that by you stopping to be with her, is a way for her to let us know she is alright. Thank you for reaching out with your story, it is comforting to know she wasn't alone.
Wow, six degrees of seperation. God put you two there at that moment for a reason. GOD BLESS you two for doing what you did. Asthma is a horrible and scary disease. I am sure her friends and family are grateful you two were by her side in her final moments on earth. Thank you for sharing. I am so touched by your story and reminder.
Thank you all for your loving comments...this has been really hard on Paul & I, but we will never regret being there to comfort Latoya. We saw her memoriam in the Hartford Courant yesterday wishing her a happy 25th birthday in heaven...
Love Krystal & Paul
Unfortunately, the courant memoriam is not the same person.
wow... you guys are such big hearted people! you did such an amazing thing in helping this lady.
Paul and Crystal...only knowing you both for a short time, it is no suprise to me that your first response was to stop and care for someone. That being said....thank God there are wonderful people like you left in this world. I'm sure this has been an eye opening and emotional experience for both of you. I wish you luck getting through it....I also wish her friends and loved ones time to heal......
Hugs to both of you. That must have been a very hard thing to go through. She was fortunate to have you there. I'm sure you two now have another guardian angel looking out for you.
Hello,
My name is Sabrina and I have worked with Latoya for 3 years. She was one of those people that got along with everyone. She was kind-hearted and was always genuinely interested in other people and what they had to say. She had this adorable giggle laugh that would make anyone who heard it smile. She will remain alive in the hearts of all of us who were lucky enough to know her.
I just want to say thank you both so much for being there for her. It means the world to me and so many of Latoya's friends that you would stop to help her. What you wrote in the blog really touched all of our hearts and I cannot begin to express my gratitude. It just goes to show how much of an effect one random act of kindness can actually have.
Thank you again, you are truly amazing people. God bless.
(The birthday memoir is a different Latoya... her last name was Mckithen)
I never knew Latoya, I work at Chili's in Manchester. I heard what happened, and it has effected me in such a manner I find my eyes tearing. My son has asthma, he is 4. When I came home from work last night, I just held him for a long time, and cried. Thank you for your blog, and thank you sharing your story. May God Bless Latyota, may her suffering be gone forever. Any the both of you are heroes, in my book.
Thank you.

I never knew death first hand before April 24, but it changes you weather you know it or not. It makes you cherish the little things that you used to overlook. Good for you for following your heart and helping someone in need. Hopefully all the people that die are running around in the sunshine somewhere with people that love them.
Wow, what an eye opening experience. I got chills and teared up reading your blog. I believe everything happens for a reason and you 2 were meant to be there for laytoya. You both are in our thoughts as you try to find peace with this experience. Our thoughts are with Latoya's family in the hopes that through your kindness they find solace. Sara & Mike G.
